Somnath Rakshit is an accomplished Data Scientist with over 3 years of relevant experience in the field. He currently works at Walmart Global Tech in Dallas, TX, where he has built linearly additive time series models to forecast sales for different granularities, time periods, and channels. He has also developed an API for the developed models and deployed them to production using FastAPI and Pydantic. Somnath has led the team with ML Ops, developed data quality check, and CI/CD pipelines for training and inference services. Somnath holds a Master's degree in Information Science/Studies from the School of Information, The University of Texas at Austin, where he was a part of IDEAL and UT CSI Lab. He also quantified and ranked genes based on their expression data with regard to multiple cancer types. Furthermore, he developed a light-weight model to classify chest X-ray images into 14 categories and generated class activation maps to highlight the discriminatory regions.
