Somshubhro (Som) Pal Choudhury is a Partner at Bharat Innovation Fund, a Pre Series-A/Series-A fund focused on creating Deeptech and IP driven startups out of India. He is responsible for fund raising, scouting, investment, due diligence, operational help, corporate development, and planning for exits. Som is also a Board Member of PlayShifu.com and FireCompass.com and the US India Science & Technology Endowment Fund (USISTEF). With over 22 years of experience, Som has held various management and engineering roles at Cadence Design Systems, was the first employee of an early M2M/IoT startup in the energy management/Smart grid space, and served as Global Product Management and Marketing Director at NETGEAR. He was also the Managing Director of Analog Devices India, a wholly owned subsidiary of a $6.5B global semiconductor company headquartered in Boston. Som is a co-founder of India's IoT ecosystem building think-tank, IoTForum, and chairs India's top IoT conference, IoTNext. He was a board member and executive council member of Industry Body, IESA (India Electronics & Semi Association) in 2016-18 and is an Advisor to International Software Product Management Association (ISPMA) India chapter. He is also a co-author of a book "New Kind of Computational Biology" recently published by Springer. Som holds an MBA from Wharton, University of Pennsylvania, and an engineering graduate from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur and North Carolina State University. He is a product manager with relevant experience of 22.78 years. At Analog Devices, Som managed the India presence of a wholly owned subsidiary, with operational, statutory, and compliance accountabilities. He achieved significant attrition reduction, deep dives, and strategic business plans to build India business, double-digit revenue growth, 5X growth in leveraging India design house ecosystem, and enhancing brand and reach of Analog Devices in India. He is a regular spokesperson on #IoT and Design / #MakeinIndia in media and industry events. At NETGEAR, Som had P&L responsibility for consumer portfolio of Multimedia, Powerline, and Wireless products. He started several new product portfolios from scratch and worked with multiple Bay Area start-ups to bring their technologies to market. He led successful initiatives to move from hardware only ODM-style business to a more value-added differentiation with software features and services
