Sooraj S is an experienced Embedded Android Engineer with a passion for solving gaps in system engineering. He has over 8 years of experience building and shipping embedded systems using Android AOSP. He is proficient in Android internals, Android boot sequence, Android HAL's, device bring-up, porting, boot time optimization, SDK add-ons, and AOSP customization. He also has experience in Linux kernel, device tree, Android/Linux device driver and HAL layers, as well as Android Framework layers. Sooraj has extensive experience in writing Android system services and native daemons to run as a startup service and to communicate with Android system applications. He is proficient with Git workflow, Gerrit, Jenkins, and Linux command line. He has experience running and solving CTS and GTS tests, and he can work well independently and in close collaboration with a remote team. Sooraj has worked on a range of Android devices, including smartphones, automotive infotainment boards, kiosk machines, POS machines, smartwatches, GPS tracking devices, body-cam devices, and IOT-boxes. He has also worked with chip code for Qualcomm Snapdragon, Mediatek, Rockchip, and NXP Android BSP. Currently, Sooraj is an Embedded Android Developer at ecorp, where he is responsible for porting /e/ OS to new hardware, adding features and customizing /e/ OS with various internal requirements, and adding /e/ OS customization to Android Q and bringing up devices to newer Android versions. He is involved in various OS bug fixes and project up streaming, ODM relations and communication of requirements with partners, and working with partners to eliminate performance and solve CTS issues. Sooraj has previously worked as a Technical Lead at Aplit-Soft, managing a team of four embedded developers and one backend developer, and as an Android Systems Engineer at IITMS HTIC Medtech, where he worked on smartwatches and made Android telephony changes to handle calls and carrier-based USSD on watch interface. Sooraj holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Mahatma Gandhi University and has completed his 12th and 10th education from Kendriya Vidyalaya. He is proficient in Android, parts-of-speech, backend, Jenkins, and is a senior software engineer with 7.36 years of relevant experience. Sooraj is open to remote roles and freelance projects.
