Sopan Khosla is a highly skilled Applied Scientist II at AWS AI, with a passion for Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning in Healthcare. With a Master's degree in Language Technologies from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, Sopan is a gold medalist with a strong engineering background. He has a demonstrated history of working in the computer software industry, with expertise in Python, Tensorflow, Java, C++, and full-stack development. Sopan is currently serving as the President of SDSLabs, a group of software enthusiasts that fosters technical activities on campus. He introduced the Winter of Code program to promote open source culture at the university, leading to the highest-ever selections in GSoC from IITR. He also co-founded the Data Science Group, which aims to improve the culture of Data Science and Analytics in IITR, and launched five products in the calendar year 2016-17. Sopan has previously worked as a Research Intern with the Application Security team at Symantec Bangalore, where he developed a plugin with an alternate workflow to digitally sign large files and increased the efficiency and security of document signing on the cloud. He has also served as the Co-ordinator of the Programming and Algorithms Group at IIT Roorkee, where he organized programming competitions, scheduled and gave lectures on data structures and algorithms, and maintained CodeVillage and CodeRunner, the in-house online judge and web platform used to hold contests. He completed his high school education from Delhi Public School Jabalpur and his secondary education from Delhi Public School Amritsar.
