Sophie Stupalo is a second-year Biomedical Engineering student at the University of Waterloo with a passion for expanding her skills and knowledge through diverse experiences. She takes pride in her work and is committed to making a difference in her community. Sophie has experience working with C++ and C# programming languages, object-oriented programming, and various data structures and algorithms. In her recent role as a Developer and Research Assistant at the University of Waterloo, she quickly learned and applied R and Shiny to create an interactive web app. Sophie also drew from her past experiences studying human factors to develop an intuitive User Interface for the app. Sophie has worked as a Platform Developer Intern at Gumstix, Inc. and as an Aerial Guide at Treetop Trekking. She is currently working as a Developer and Research Assistant at the University of Waterloo. Sophie is interested in research and web development and has relevant experience of 2.18 years. Sophie is also actively involved in developing her school's lacrosse club and working to educate herself about different social issues through her work with the UW Alliance. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, playing sports, and fishing. Sophie has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, which she expects to complete in December 2024. She also attended Heart Lake Secondary School from 2015 to 2019. Sophie's tech stack includes research science and web development.
