Soumik Dasgupta is an Applied ML Scientist at Amazon, with a keen interest in Machine Learning and Data Science, particularly in the applications of Deep Learning in Computer Vision and Natural Language Processing. With over 5 years of relevant experience, he has previously worked as a Software Engineer at Intel Technologies and as a Senior Project Officer for Sponsored Research and Industrial Consultancy at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. Soumik's focus of research has been Joint Vision and Language Understanding, and he has been a member of the Vision and Language research group at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. He is grateful to have been mentored by Dr. Vinay Namboodiri. Currently, he is working as a Machine Learning Scientist at Amazon Development Centre in Bangalore. Soumik has a Master's degree in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, and a Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Durgapur. His technical skills include Research Scientist, ML, Software Engineer, Computer Vision, Deep Learning, NLP, and Data Scientist. At Intel Technologies, Soumik was part of the D3D User Mode Driver Development team for DX11, where he worked on Graphics Driver feature implementations and development of ULTs. At the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, he worked on a project sponsored by ISRO, titled "Design and Efficient Implementation of advanced Encryption And Decryption techniques for use In Spacecraft Communication(EEC)." The focus of his work was the development of secure genus-2 Hyperellictic Curve Cryptosystems, generated Hyperelliptic Curves over a Finite Field of size 128 bits, with near prime Jacobian order, and developed methods to circumvent expensive Jacobian Order computation. He also implemented libraries in C and PARI/GP for efficient Field Arithmetic. Overall, Soumik is a highly skilled Applied ML Scientist with a strong background in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. He is passionate about using Machine Learning and Data Science to solve complex problems, particularly in the areas of Computer Vision and Natural Language Processing.
