Soumya Bhatnagar is a highly skilled software engineer and a graduate student at the University of Southern California pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science, with an expected graduation date in May 2023. She has over four years of industry experience in developing automation frameworks for testing and CI/CD pipeline of full-stack software systems, including android and iOS mobile applications and desktop and mobile web applications. Soumya has a keen interest in iOS application development and has contributed to Swift-based iOS application development for her previous company as well as for side projects. She has completed Algorithm Analysis and Database courses, which have strengthened her programming and CS fundamentals. She is also currently undertaking a Full Stack Web Development course, where she is learning HTML, CSS, DOM, JavaScript, JSON, JQuery, React, and Node.js and is using these technologies to create several side projects. Soumya believes that she can bring a unique perspective of a tester to software development. She can analyze the requirements of a product and come up with edge cases that could break the system in production, view the system as an end-to-end integration instead of a niche feature to be developed, and play the role of an end-user to identify any user experience shortcomings of the product. Soumya's latest work experience was at Paytm, India's leading payments company, where she designed and developed automation frameworks using Java to test mobile and web application code for continuous integration pipeline. She also reduced manual testing effort estimation by 60%. Soumya spent around 50% of her time coding and the other 50% was spent in manual testing, writing test plans, reviewing test cases, improving QA processes, leading multiple testing efforts, providing deployment and post-production support, holding sprint planning meetings, etc. Soumya enjoys working in Agile teams with high-velocity release cycles, and this experience has taught her to solve complex problems with minimal supervision and ambiguous requirements. She has the ability to work closely with developers, business analysts, product managers, and other business stakeholders in cross-functional teams. She has leadership experience, having led, mentored, and hired the QA team for Paytm, which has built her communication and collaboration skills. Soumya's education includes a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology and a High School degree from Convent of Jesus and Mary, New Delhi.
