Sounak Gupta is a highly skilled Backend Engineer with a passion for technology and its positive impact on business transformations and process improvements. Currently working at Vector.ai as a Software Engineer, Sounak focuses on the ideation, development, and execution of large-scale problems. He is a problem solver who loves to learn new technologies and considers himself a team player who can learn and adapt at a speedy rate. With over 3 years of relevant experience, Sounak is skilled in nodejs, typescript, Python, FastApi, C++/C, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Reactjs, redux, AWS, Docker, Terraform, and more. He is immensely interested in distributed systems, database engineering, and systems at scale, always looking to connect with people who share similar interests. Sounak's past experience includes working as a Software Engineer at Hyperverge Inc., where he designed and developed Sim-SaaS, a CPU-based vector similarity search service from scratch using FastApi and faiss, scaling it to support a high number of search requests with a recall of 99.77%. He also revamped the entire backend for Orion's aggregator using Typescript, making the service highly generic and configurable based on regions/countries, ensuring quicker deployment and onboarding of new clients. Sounak has a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Electronics and Computer Science from West Bengal University of Technology, Kolkata. He also holds a Mobile Web Specialist Nanodegree in Web Development from Udacity. In his spare time, Sounak can be found on the football field, working out, or traveling to new places.
