Souradip Chakraborty is a highly skilled Machine Learning Scientist with a Ph.D. in Data Science and Quality Management Science from the Indian Statistical Institute. He has over 9 years of relevant experience in the field of Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Statistical applications in areas like Vision, Natural Language Processing, etc. Currently, he is working as a Data Scientist at Walmart Labs, where he is exploring areas in Explainability, Robustness, and Fairness in Instance-based semisupervised learning for high-dimensional unstructured data for retrieval and recommendation systems. Souradip has a special interest in Causality, Statistical Bias, Robustness & Model Explainability in general, and he has recently been recognized as a Google Developer Expert- Machine Learning by Google. He has worked on various projects related to Non-convex optimization problems, Bayesian optimization for Hyperparameter tuning of Machine learning and Deep learning models, Neural Information Retrieval, and Efficient De-Biasing of Sentence Vectors for enhancing the Search Mechanism, and Structured NLP Learning. In his previous role as a Statistical Analyst at Walmart Labs, Souradip worked on developing a methodology for classifying and categorizing Walmart item descriptions into Customer intent categories using a combination of Hierarchical clustering, Glove word embedding, and Deep Neural Network classification. He also built a Hybrid recommendation engine deploying the social presence of the customers using Gensim Word2vec embedding and cosine similarity. Apart from that, he worked on developing an intelligent smart kitchen technology that detects the ingredients present in the kitchen if it falls beyond a threshold and recommends the same using Image processing techniques and Convolution Neural Network. Souradip has a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Instrumentation and Electronics Engineering from Jadavpur University and a Master’s Degree in Data Science and Quality Management Science from the Indian Statistical Institute. He also completed his High School education from Nava Nalanda High School. Souradip is proficient in various technologies such as ML, NLP, Deep Learning, Information Retrieval, Recommendation systems, Tensorflow, Data Scientist, Search, and UI.
