Sourav Kumar is an experienced engineer in the IT infrastructure transformation space, with over 11 years of relevant experience. He is currently working as a Senior Member of Technical Staff at Salesforce, where he is part of the Platform Engineering team that handles the infrastructure for CRM. In this role, Sourav works in a multi-cloud environment with the majority of services deployed on AWS. He is responsible for visualizing and designing scalable and agile environments, continuous integration/deployment models, and cloud migrations. His work helps firms meet their strategic goals of cost and effort reduction through cloud adaptation and automated solutions (transformation "as a code" thing). Prior to his current role, Sourav worked as a Staff Engineer DevOps at McAfee, where he handled DevOps activities for MVISION cloud offerings. He automated infra-related tasks and transformed every task to an "as a code" thing, designed and deployed on AWS, worked on AWS serverless components like Lambda and API Gateway, migrated services from on-prem vendors to AWS, and used Python and Bash scripting for generic use cases. He also used infrastructure as code using CloudFormation, configuration automation using SaltStack and Ansible, and ELK and Prometheus for log aggregation and monitoring. Sourav was also responsible for handling CI and CD workflow and using EKS and ECS for containerization needs. Sourav also worked as a Technical Specialist Cloudops & Devops at AT&T, where he was involved in building an end-to-end automation system for the EG segment of the company. He worked on AWS, Azure, and Kubernetes platforms and ensured automation for all deployments. He actively migrated 20% of BAU to cloud (Azure primarily), analyzed and debugged application issues, worked on log analysis dashboard using ELK stack, and automated ticket creation for threshold breach by log analysis. He also developed dashboards for running VMs and total VMs list on a daily basis using Grafana and Python, and utilized dashboards for identifying underutilized VMs using Kibana, Metricbeat, and ES. Sourav was also involved in building the containerized approach for services running on the cloud and worked with monitoring systems in place like New Relic, Nagios, and ELK.
