Sourav Upadhyay is a passionate coder and an experienced Engineering Manager and Technical Architect with over 11 years of relevant experience. Currently, he is working as a Senior Software Engineering Manager at Microsoft, where he is leading the team responsible for building the Microsoft Viva Learning platform. Sourav has designed, built, and scaled multiple products from scratch, which showcases his expertise in the field. Before joining Microsoft, he worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Microsoft, where he was part of the Skype for Business messaging and presence team. He also worked with the Kaizala service extensibility team, where he implemented the interop of Kaizala with Teams and extended and scaled the Kaizala webhooks/subscriptions framework (PubSub). He also owned and created a new service to establish independent infra to handle additional load due to interop. Prior to working at Microsoft, Sourav worked as an Associate Architect at Goibibo, where he led a team of engineers to build highly scalable and high availability platforms. He was responsible for building and maintaining the ground transport BU for Goibibo, which included goCars, goTrains, and goBus verticals. He built and scaled the cars and trains verticals from scratch and also built and maintained seller and driver side services for the cars vertical. He managed the production and staging cluster for the above applications and lead production infra automation via chef/opsworks. He also implemented machine learning algorithms using Scikit-learn in Python to solve seller inventory management. Sourav holds a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Electronics and Instrumentation from Birla Institute of Technology and Science. He is also a graduate of Delhi Public School.
