Sowmya Vaidyanathan is a skilled Data Scientist with a strong interest in Automation and Control. She is currently working at Prismade Labs where she is responsible for developing and implementing machine learning algorithms using Python. Prior to this, she worked at Tata Consultancy Services where she gained valuable experience in MES. Sowmya's passion for data science and automation is evident in her work history. During her time as a Data Science Intern at Trumpf, she created prediction models using Python to validate the reliability of the pin placement for unloading process in laser cutting machines. She also worked on pre-processing the data obtained from the sensors in the fully automated laser machine and evaluated the data models. Sowmya developed machine learning algorithms using the scikit learn library in Python to create models and evaluated them using classification metrics. Her main goal was to reduce the false positive rate while maintaining an allowable false negative rate. Sowmya's Master's thesis focused on using a deep learning approach to predict the reliability of part separation in automated laser cutting machines. She used a neural network model to ensure that the position of the pins was correct for the successful extraction of the part from the sheet skeleton in laser cutting machines. Sowmya generated images and used graphical information of the part in question and the position of the pins as input to the Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN). She trained the model and made predictions based on the success or failure in unloading the part for a given position of pins and the given part geometry. The graphical data was acquired using MATLAB and the pre-processing and modeling was done in Python. CNN was trained using Keras and several iterations were performed with increasing numbers of hidden layers, and the classification metrics were compared. Sowmya's experience also includes working as a Part-time Data Analyst at Rail Cargo Carrier Germany GmbH, where she worked with data related to freight trains and combined them to create reports using Excel and Power BI. She also loaded the data into a database using SQL. Sowmya holds a Master's degree in Automation and IT from Cologne University of Applied Sciences and a Bachelor's degree from Sastra University. She also completed her 10th and 12th grades from SVGV and SSSVM. Her technical skills include Data Science, Research Science, Python, CNN, ML, Neural Networks, Keras, Scikit, and SQL.
