Sri Nitchith Akula is a highly skilled software engineer with over 6 years of experience in the field. He is currently working as a Lead Engineer at Samsung, where he is responsible for addressing practical challenges related to AI-powered Gallery Zoom on Samsung M31s, A51, and A71. Sri is also studying literature on using AI in video codecs, which demonstrates his commitment to staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in his field. Prior to his current role, Sri worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Samsung R&D Institute India - Bangalore, where he focused on improving the video streaming pipeline using AI ScaleNet technology. He also developed a fixed point C solution to AI upscale 4K content to 8K content for Samsung 8K TVs and optimized AI ScaleNet for Samsung Note 20 to support VGA video calls at QVGA bandwidth. Sri's experience at Samsung R&D Institute India - Bangalore also involved exploring various DNN architectures to realize them real-time in mobile phones and learning optimization and porting tools like Snapdragon SNPE, OpenCL, x86 SIMD, and ARM Neon. Additionally, Sri worked as a Software Engineer at Samsung R&D Institute India - Bangalore, where he proposed new frame packing for Icosahedral Projection (ISP) format, which was adopted into Audio Video Standard (AVS). He also obtained 1st place for subjective quality in the 360° video category of Call for Proposals (CfP) for Versatile Video Coding (VVC) standard and published five patents, with two of them as the primary author. Sri holds a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) with Honours in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.
