Stephen Fernandes is a hands-on engineering leader with over 12 years of experience in product engineering, enterprise architecture, delivery, consulting, implementation, and support in the BFSI domain. He has proven competence in building scalable enterprise products and platforms with a distributed architecture and implementing them in the global context. Stephen has managed the entire SDLC, including Agile/Scrum methodologies, for product engineering, quality, DevOps, release management, version upgrades, process optimization, and improvement. He is experienced in Java and related technologies, with expertise in Core Java, Hibernate, Spring core, Spring Boot, Spring batch, integration, and JPA. He is also skilled in database designing, performance tuning of applications, and microservice and event-based design implementation, such as Restful service using spring rest, apache cxf, JMS, Kafka, and apache zookeeper. Currently, Stephen is working as a Senior Associate (AVP) at MSCI Inc., where he is a Software Engineer at Index Engineering Team. He is responsible for performance improvement of the index building and rebalancing, platform stability, and moving the application to Azure. In the past, Stephen has worked as a Senior Java Architect at Morgan Stanley, where he was responsible for designing and developing microservices for ACH and Wires Transactions, Foundation, Accounting, Infinity, Data Warehouse, and Client Letters. He has also worked as a Lead Java Developer at Oracle, where he managed complex deliverables and led the design and development of Interest and Billing Account/OverDraft modules over various releases. Stephen holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics from the University of Mumbai. He is skilled in Spring, Java, Microservices, Kafka, DevOps, Azure, AWS, Docker, and Typescript. Stephen is passionate about mobile and web development, UI/UX design, and backend development.
