Steven Fuqua is a Principal Software Engineer at Microsoft with over 11 years of relevant experience. He began his career as a student, developing mods for his favorite computer games, which laid the foundation for his expertise in Java, Python, and C#. He has since gained extensive experience in C++, web technologies, test automation, and big data. Currently, Steven is responsible for managing the architecture of the Xbox mobile app and cross-app infrastructure at Microsoft. He focuses on sharing code and engineering best practices between various React Native product teams. Additionally, he facilitates dev planning and execution for new social features in the Xbox ecosystem across multiple product teams. In his previous role as a Senior Software Engineer at Microsoft, Steven worked on the Xbox mobile app on the Xbox Community team, building social features that integrate with Xbox Live services to drive engagement with the Microsoft gaming ecosystem. His work spanned across Java, Objective-C, Swift, and React Native (TypeScript) in multiple code bases and applications, and includes integrating with various partner teams to light up new experiences. Steven has also worked as an Owner for HTML5 media and service workers in the Web Platform Data & Intelligence org at Microsoft. He worked with developer and PM counterparts to ensure the right telemetry and reporting were in place to monitor the health of his scenarios. He designed and maintained data pipelines for insights into feature quality and used data to find novel browser compatibility bugs and drive fixes. Steven holds Bachelor’s Degrees in Computer Engineering and Math from Virginia Tech and attended Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. He is proficient in various technologies such as Software Engineering, Mobile, Big Data, Web, SDET, test, infra, Java, React Native, Typescript, iOS, product manager, and Objective-c.
