Suman Karumuri is a highly skilled Senior Staff Software Engineer with over 17 years of experience in the tech industry. He has a keen interest in all things infra and has built and operated peta-byte scale systems in all three pillars of observability. Suman is particularly passionate about time-series database systems. Suman has extensive experience in distributed tracing, having served as the Tech Lead for Zipkin and as a member of the Customer Advisory Board of Open Tracing and Pintrace, which is an end-to-end tracing system used by Pinterest. He has also run Elastic search at scale and Loglens for log search, and has worked with OpenTSDB and Yuvi, an in-memory metrics storage engine. Suman's specialties include observability, monitoring, metrics, log search, and distributed tracing. He is currently working as a Sr. Staff Software Engineer at Slack and has previously worked as a Software Engineer at Pinterest and Twitter. At Twitter, Suman designed and implemented Loglens, a log aggregation, search, and analytics platform that currently manages 2PB of log data. He was also the Frontend Lead for Apache Aurora and Apache Mesos projects and the Lead on the Zipkin project.
