Suman Kumar is a highly motivated and enthusiastic software engineer with 3.87 years of experience. He is currently working as a System Engineer at TCS where he builds web applications using Python, Django, and Dash to solve complex business problems and integrate them end to end. He has also undertaken the modernization of legacy applications written in MS Access, VBA, and Lotus notes to new applications based on Java and SQL Server. For his contribution to this modernization, he was awarded the "Achievement Award." Suman is an innovative problem solver and an avid learner who is always looking to learn new technologies and find efficient solutions to real-world problems. During his penultimate semester, he gained insights into the usage of machine learning while interning at IIIT Hyderabad NLP lab. He developed a context-based spell checker for the Hindi language and contributed to upgrading and rewriting the string-matching program based on the Aho-Corasick algorithm. He also enhanced the Word Alignment module and corpus correction module using software and tools such as Python, Shell Script, C, Word2Vec, and ACE Parser (Stanford University). Suman's innovative thinking and problem-solving skills were recognized when he participated as a finalist in the TCS Digital Impact Square Ideathon held in Chennai in 2018. He proposed a solution for avoiding and resolving human stampedes, which impressed the judges. Apart from his professional work, Suman also served as the Chairman of ACM Association for Computing Machinery. He holds a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degree in Information Technology from Haldia Institute of Technology.
