Sumit Jha is an experienced AI developer and computer vision enthusiast with over 12 years of relevant experience. He is currently working as an Engineering Manager (Associate Director Engineering) at Applied Materials, where he is leading the development of an AI-driven cloud-enabled product for the Oncology domain. Sumit is responsible for building a team for algorithm development, leading algorithm development for the clinical trial of the product with hospitals, training/customizing SOTA CNN models for the histopathological domain, deploying algorithms in the cloud for real-time inference, and collaborating cross-team and cross-boundary for product development. Sumit has previously worked as a Senior Engineer at Ittiam Systems Pvt Ltd, where he developed state-of-the-art technology-based retail analytics products, computer vision-based algorithms for surround view systems, and machine learning-based automotive solutions. He has also worked as a Lead Data Scientist at Sustainable Growth Initiative, where he worked on India Energy Security Scenarios-2047 (IESS-2047), the flagship project of then Prime Minister of India- Dr. Manmohan Singh. Sumit used cutting-edge data mining and economic modeling techniques to create an automated model for India's energy planning, leading to the reduction of lead time for development policies from 14 months to 3 months. The project was nominated for the PM's Civil services award. Sumit has a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. He also completed an internship in Computer Vision from Virginia Commonwealth University. Sumit has experience working with AI, Senior Software Engineer, CNN, Computer Vision, ML, Azure, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Python, Deep Learning, product manager, Keras, Data Scientist, Research Scientist, Mobile, Hyperparameter, and Neural Networks. In his current role, Sumit is building an AI-driven cloud-enabled product for the Oncology domain using whole slide image. He is working with a team to train/customize state-of-the-art CNN models with histopathological gigapixel image data and interacting with senior pathologists to validate the product with real-time patient data. Sumit's expertise in AI and computer vision makes him a valuable asset to any team working in this field.
