Sumit Sapra is a Senior Data Scientist at Walmart with a passion for technology trends. He completed his Bachelor of Technology degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from LNMIIT, Jaipur in 2018, where he discovered his interest in Embedded Systems and Internet of Things, along with Machine Learning. After graduation, he worked as an Embedded Software Engineer with a startup in Bangalore for 1.5 years, where he realized the importance of advanced skills in data analytics while working with data generated from sensors of Embedded Systems and IoT devices. This motivated him to pursue an advanced graduate degree program in the USA to explore the potential of data analytics and gain international exposure. Currently, Sumit is graduating with an MS degree in Business Analytics (Data Science) from UT Dallas in May 2022. He has worked as a Data Science and Analytics Consultant with Fidelity Investments Audit Team, where he helped improve DevOps efficiency and maturity processes across the organization using Data Analytics, Machine Learning, and Natural Language Processing. He also did an internship in Data Science and Analytics at Lexmark International Inc., where he worked with multiple huge industrial datasets and applied concepts learned at UT Dallas to bring out business insights and collaborated with cross-functional stakeholders. He used analytics-based tools such as Azure, Databricks, PySpark, MLflow, and PowerBI during his internship at Lexmark. Sumit has experience in exploratory data analysis, data validation, feature engineering, sensitivity analysis, and model deployment on the Databricks platform for a XGBoost-based days to depletion prediction model. He has also developed a keyword search-based PowerBI dashboard for internal stakeholders using Azure Cognitive Search and Natural Language Processing Techniques on the backend for RFP (Request for Proposal) document dataset. He has expertise in tokenization, Python, SQL, search, deep learning, and backend development. Sumit is looking for full-time roles starting June 2022, where he can implement his Data Science and Analytics skills to grow with the organization and make this world a better place to live.
