Sundaram Ananthanarayanan is a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer at Netflix with a passion for performance and scalability. Previously, Sundaram worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Uber, where he was responsible for driving the next-generation design and architecture of two critical systems for Uber's Build Infrastructure. He conceived and developed an innovative scheduling system called SubmitQueue, which guarantees an "always-green" master in the context of 100s of engineers committing changes concurrently to a repository. He also created uCI, a scalable task execution/orchestration system that leverages Mesos for powering CI and other stateful workloads at Uber. His individual contributions to these projects include designing and implementing a conflict analyzer, building machine learning models, and architecting the system to handle 100s of repositories. He also published a research paper at Eurosys'19 introducing SubmitQueue and detailing its core components. Before Uber, Sundaram worked as a Software Engineer at Baidu USA, where he mainly worked on productionizing deep-speech, a speech recognition system trained using deep learning end-to-end. Sundaram holds a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Technology in Information Technology from the College of Engineering Guindy, Chennai.
