Sunny Chatterjee is a Principal Engineering Manager at Microsoft with over a decade of experience in multiple products, including Internet Explorer, Windows Core Engineering, Azure Sphere, and Visual C++. He currently leads a team responsible for developing core static analysis engines used in the Visual Studio IDE productivity experiences, as well as traditional security tooling scenarios used around the company. His team plays a critical role in leading efforts towards making C++ a safer systems programming language. Sunny has a strong background in compiler and tooling space for Azure Sphere. His responsibilities included evaluating experimental compilers for safer systems programming, creating road-maps for improving static analysis experience of Azure Sphere OS code, using Checked C in OS code, and integrating the Checked C Clang compiler toolchain into the Yocto based build system. In his previous role as a Principal Engineer in the Compiler and Language platform group at Microsoft, Sunny focused on advancing Visual C++ productivity features, including internals of code analysis engines, background analysis, green squiggles, automatic fix-its, cross-platform support, and machine learning-based experiences. Sunny holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Jadavpur University. He also completed his High School from St. James' School and Elementary and Middle School from MP Birla Foundation HS School.
