Suraj Mhetre is a skilled Data Engineer and Software Engineer with a strong background in Software Engineering domain. He is a graduate from the University of Texas at Dallas, and has experience in handling various aspects of application development such as front-end and back-end using web development frameworks, managing the database, working in agile methodology projects, and working across the teams with clients, product managers, and engineers for requirement gathering. Before coming to the US for his master’s, Suraj spent over 3 years developing his skills as a Software Engineer for Capgemini India, where he won several performance rewards and was promoted twice. Later, he decided to upscale his skillset and did his MS from UTD. He believes that industry experience is more qualified than academic life and hence did an internship in Texas based startup as a software engineer in machine learning. Currently, Suraj is working as a Data Engineer at egen, where he develops and maintains molecular and clinical data ETL pipelines to support the data ingestion and data delivery using AWS, GCP cloud systems. He also creates data quality health checks using dbt, develops filters used in Tempus’ LENS web application to facilitate patient selection without writing SQL query, and leads the data delivery team. In the past, Suraj has worked as a Machine Learning Intern at Truevim, where he contributed to system design and implemented ETL pipeline to ingest data from NTREIS and Greatschools APIs. He also developed a predictive model using ensemble regression algorithms to assist the company in establishing a real estate price. He has also worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at The University of Texas at Dallas, where he designed assignment labs based on machine learning modeling using sklearn and pandas libraries for 90 students.
