Surendar Chandra is a highly experienced software engineer with over 23 years of relevant experience in the field. He is currently working as a Software Engineer at Amazon. Surendar has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Duke University, an MS in Computer Science from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and a BE in Computer Science from the College of Engineering Guindy, Chennai. Surendar has a strong background in experimental system topics in multimedia, mobile collaboration, storage, sensor systems, and security. He has worked with a variety of technologies and platforms, including AWS, Snowflake, mobile, Kafka, ETL, GCP, and Kubernetes. Surendar is also skilled in integration and has helped to build tools that allow customers to debug issues from on-prem devices' perspectives. In his previous role as a Principal Engineer and Area Tech Lead for Data Classification at Rubrik, Surendar designed and built the user activity component of data classification for Windows and NetApp NAS shares. He also re-architected and switched component logging from unstructured to structured, switched Rubrik Akka API framework to use HTTP2, and switched Active Directory integration from downloading the entire directory to instead use LDAP queries. Before joining Rubrik, Surendar was a founding engineer at Kasten, where he built an intra-cloud data migration capability for Kubernetes deployments. He also built a logging capability using AWS hosted ElasticSearch/Kibana and AWS Kinesis Firehose with AWS Cognito for partial authentication. Surendar is an accomplished software engineer with a strong academic background and a wealth of experience in the field.
