Survi Kyal is an Applied Research Scientist at Meta AI with a passion for creating intelligent applications using machine learning. With over 11 years of relevant experience, Survi specializes in computer vision, deep learning, and machine learning. She is currently working at Meta Reality Labs on eye tracking research, computer vision, and AR/VR. Prior to joining Meta AI, Survi worked as a Senior Applied Research Scientist at Smart Eye, where she continued her role after Smart Eye acquired Affectiva. At Affectiva, Survi served as a Senior Applied Research Scientist and Tech Lead, where she experimented with new modeling techniques, tuned models using hyper-parameter tuning, mitigated bias in models, patented and published findings in conferences, and mentored junior researchers and interns. She also worked with project managers and stakeholders to ensure key product requirements were met and provided research and technical guidance to individual ML scientists and engineers in alignment with product roadmap and milestones on a day to day basis. Survi holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University. She is a permanent resident (EB1A) and has a Google Scholar profile with several citations.
