Swaminath Badrinath is a highly experienced Staff Firmware Engineer currently working at Samsung Electronics. With 7 years of professional experience in Firmware Development with C and C++, he also has 2 years of Research Experience in Computer Vision, Imaging and Sensors from a Top University in the United States. He holds a master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering and an Embedded Systems Certification from the University of Colorado Boulder. Swaminath has extensive experience in developing Firmware in the Semiconductor Industry for SSD and in the areas of Computer Vision and Imaging. He is skilled in BareMetal OS, Embedded Linux and on Windows Operating Systems. He has experience using JTAG based debuggers, Metaware debuggers, logic analysers and oscilloscopes for debugging. He is also familiar with communication protocols like I2C, SPI, UART, USB, TCP, UDP, HTTP and Bluetooth. Swaminath is proficient in programming in C, C++, Python, VHDL, Verilog and Assembly. Currently working at Samsung, Swaminath is responsible for developing Firmware for the Flash Translation Layer for Client Solid State Drives using PCIe/NVMe for 3D NAND TLC Technology. He has developed some of the request and response path modules for Host Writes and Reads for the Flash Translation Layer and implemented the Program Failure recovery module. He has also handled features like Unaligned Write, Turbo write (SLC write) and features like Suspend and Resume for power off scenarios to store the user and meta data. Swaminath has previously worked at Micron Technology as an SSD Firmware Engineer-3, where he wrote SSD back-end Firmware for the Flash Translation Layer for the Client Solid State Drives using PCIe/NVMe Genx4 for 3D NAND TLC technology. He also developed and designed NVMe Features Sanitize Erase, NAND Thermal management and Power throttling end-to-end for a TLC 3D NAND. He has also worked at SanDisk India Device Design Centre, Ltd. as a Senior Member of Technical Staff- Firmware Engineer, where he developed SSD backend Firmware using C and C++ for the Client Solid State Drives using PCIe/NVMe Genx3. Swaminath is highly skilled in Computer Vision, Python, Research Scientist, Mobile, Backend, and Software Engineer. With 8.38 years of relevant experience, he is open to exploring new opportunities in the fields of Semiconductors/Consumer Electronics/Computer Networks.
