Tai Dupree is a highly skilled Software Engineer with over 11 years of relevant experience in the industry. He was born and raised in the remote highlands of Guatemala where technology was limited, but he made it his goal from an early age to understand all that he could about technology using the resources at his disposal. Tai's current professional interests include programming languages and expressibility, common abstractions, compilation and execution pipelines. Currently, Tai is working as a Software Engineer at Apple, where he is involved in AI/ML - Data Infrastructure. Prior to joining Apple, Tai worked as a Software Engineer at Preset, where he was actively participating in OSS development, releases, triage, security response, and community support. He wrote core React components and designed migration for Apache Superset's CRUD views from legacy server rendered HTML pages to single-page app framework. Tai also created a docker-compose workflow for users to reliably launch a full-featured version of Apache Superset via a single command. He led bi-weekly alert reviews to ensure they were actively addressing errors and security vulnerabilities. Tai has worked on various contributions to CI workflows (open source and internal), k8s operations, bug fixes, technical customer support, log scrubbing (PII), integration points with OSS, code reviews, pair programming/mentoring, and hiring. Before Preset, Tai worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Entelo, where he developed a custom Jenkins CI pipeline for a large monolithic Rails application, reducing the time to run tests by orders of magnitude over the existing solution. He also designed/architected, developed, and deployed a scalable notification microservice written in Rails using Apache Kafka for message brokering, Concourse for CI/CD, and Kustomize + Spinnaker for deployments to Kubernetes. Tai created a new candidate profile quality score to improve search relevance across 450m+ ElasticSearch documents. Tai holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Computer Science and Critical Theory from Wesleyan University.
