Tanay Sharma is an incoming Software Engineer at Google AR with a Master's degree in Computer Vision from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT. He has developed a strong interest in Computer Vision and Machine Learning and has worked on various stages of end-to-end training of ML models, including research, data collection, data preprocessing, training models on different architectures, testing, and deploying on mobile/system. He is also interested in the Autonomous driving space and has briefly worked on building a solution to detect objects on the road. Currently, Tanay is working as an XR Engineering Intern at Qualcomm, where he has worked on the existing codebase of tracker mapper architecture (SLAM) to support XR applications. He has focused on the design and implementation of different strategies in C++ to split the processing between two devices efficiently and analyze the performance. He has achieved an average max throughput reduction of 73.75% between devices compared to a simple effective strategy without degrading the current KPIs. Tanay has previously worked at Samsung as a Lead Engineer (Research) and Senior Software Engineer (Research) in their Creative-Lab and Advanced Technology Lab, respectively. At Samsung, he worked on various ML models like Seq2Seq and Neural networks with CTC loss in the visual speech recognition domain. He has also published research papers and patented ideas related to audio-visual speech recognition and related areas. Tanay's education history includes a Master's degree in Computer Vision from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT. He has also attended St. John's Sr. Sec. School, Kota.
