Tarun Bajaj is an experienced Product Manager with a strong background in the financial industry. He has diversified work experience in the field of data science and analytics, with a strong inclination towards value creation for the end-user. Currently, he is working as the Chief Manager - Model Risk Management at IDFC FIRST Bank, where he oversees the bank's credit underwriting strategies for the retail and commercial finance portfolio worth $13B, covering 25+ line of businesses. He is responsible for helping the bank rationalize risk assessment and meet strategic risk targets. Tarun has independently supervised the management of model risk exposures across the enterprise covering Credit Risk, Fraud, and Liquidity Risk. He has also developed the first-ever digital Net Credit Losses (NCL) forecasting product for the bank's $9B retail asset portfolio, used for periodic review of provisions and setting of the bank's annual budget. Before joining IDFC FIRST Bank, Tarun worked at ICICI Bank, where he led initiatives to manage strategic partnerships with third-party e-commerce giants and online payment aggregator clients for product line extensions and scalability. He spearheaded the product's analytics division, designing credit risk analytics strategies for new customer acquisition, existing portfolio risk management, and collections management by leveraging machine learning-based algorithms to gauge the creditworthiness of customers. He was awarded a 'Certificate of Appreciation' for his outstanding contribution to the BNPL product development. Tarun holds a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, and a minor degree in Management from the same institute. He also participated in a student exchange mobility program at Ecole centrale de Nantes, France. He has a relevant experience of 4.69 years and possesses expertise in Product Management, Data Science, and Machine Learning.
