Taylor Dorsett is an Engineer II at Home Chef and a Technical Podcast Host at youtube.com/TaylorDorsett. With over 9 years of relevant experience, Taylor is a skilled Ruby and Javascript developer, with expertise in Search, Software Engineering, and MySQL. Taylor began coding in high school, where they copy-pasted their way through making a Worf whack-a-mole game. They stumbled into technical recruiting after college and enjoyed a successful 6-year career, running their own tech recruiting office. However, after realizing they had accomplished everything they wanted to do in recruiting, Taylor found themselves coding again. Currently, Taylor is a full-time JavaScript/Node engineer and a Ruby on Rails developer. They also run a podcast that gives insight into the technical interview process and conducts mock technical interviews with recent Bootcamp graduates. Taylor is passionate about non-profits and charities, with Kiva.org being a favorite. In addition to their work, Taylor is currently working on several projects. They are building ReachOutt.com with Vue.js, JavaScript, and Ruby on Rails. They are also working on a large-scale open-source project based in Chicago to help engineers find their first job. Taylor is also the host of the "Professional Technical Interviewee" Video and Audio Podcast, which gives job seekers insight into what technical interviews really look like by hosting conversations and mock interviews with engineering leaders. Taylor's favorite tools in 2020 include JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Vue.js, React.js, Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, and Node.js. In 2021, they have added Vagrant, Sass/Scss, MariaDB, SQLite, MySQL, P5.js, Next.js, GulpJS, and NunjucksJs to their list of favorite tools.
