Thiago Goncales is a seasoned Software Engineering Leader with over 7 years of relevant experience in the field. He is currently working as an Engineering Manager at Borrowell, where he is responsible for leading a team of developers to deliver high-quality software products. Prior to joining Borrowell, Thiago has worked with some of the most innovative companies in the industry, including an airline software company and BenchSci. At the airline software company, he managed 8 developers spread across 2 cross-functional teams and pushed for initiatives to increase collaboration between teams and transparency and predictability during project execution. At BenchSci, he served as the Director of Engineering and was responsible for the growth of the Reagent Platform team from 6 Full Stack developers to 16 Full Stack developers and 1 Engineering Manager, while continuously meeting very ambitious objectives under aggressive deadlines. Thiago's key projects at BenchSci included the Reagent Platform, which added new types of reagents to the BenchSci's platform, transforming it from an Antibody only platform, and the refactoring of Search infrastructure, which powers most of the platform, to increase development speed and quality. He was responsible for overall direction setting for the Reagent Platform team and worked closely with leadership and different stakeholders, including Product, Design, Science, Analytics, and Data teams to define the product and technical roadmap for the platform team. Thiago is experienced in using various technologies, including ReactJS, Node, Python, Django, Elastisearch, Serverless, AWS, and DynamoDB. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Science major in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Toronto.
