Thomas Feng is a highly accomplished VP of Engineering with over 15 years of experience in the software development industry. Currently, he holds the position of VP of Engineering at Iluvatar CoreX, where he leads the software department to build an AI cloud. Reporting directly to the CEO, Thomas manages a distributed team of engineers in the US and China, utilizing his expertise in Vue, Go, C++, Python, Javascript, Rest API, Postgres, MongoDB, Kubernetes, CUDA, and LLVM. Prior to his current role, Thomas served as the VP of Engineering at Neighborly, where he was responsible for the company's entire R&D department. He built a diverse team of frontend, backend, data, and infrastructure engineers to deliver cutting-edge fintech initiatives, such as an online platform for crowdfunding municipal projects and municipal bond trading on the blockchain. Thomas implemented Agile and CI/CD methodologies and utilized AWS, Kubernetes, Go, Javascript, Postgres, Rest API, GraphQL, Stellar, and IPFS. Before Neighborly, Thomas worked at Uber as a Senior Engineering Manager, Rider Experience, where he redesigned the Uber rider app on iOS and Android. He partnered with product and design teams to revamp the user experience based on thorough user study, executed the project, and launched it globally by Christmas 2016. Thomas utilized Android, iOS, Go, and Python during his tenure at Uber. Thomas holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from the University of California, Berkeley, a Master's Degree in Computer Science from McGill University, and a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and Technology from Nanjing University. His technical skills include Kubernetes, Javascript, Postgres, AI, Python, MongoDB, CI/CD, Frontend, Backend, infra, iOS, and Android.
