Tim Tully is a technology leader and Partner at Menlo Ventures with a passion for real-time data analytics, stream processing, and consumerized product design. He currently serves as Splunk's Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, where he is responsible for the company's product and technology organization. Tim joined Splunk in 2017 as its Chief Technology Officer, bringing his extensive experience in the technology industry to drive innovation and long-term growth. Prior to joining Splunk, Tim spent 14 years at Yahoo! Inc., where he held various roles, including Vice President of Engineering, Distinguished Engineer, and Chief Data Architect. He started his career as a Member of Technical Staff at Sun Microsystems on the JavaSoft team and also worked at several startup companies. Tim is a proud nerd who enjoys coding, building computers, and gaming with his kids. As a leader, Tim believes in organizational transparency and strives to hire "talent magnets," valuing emotional intelligence as well as traditional intelligence. He frequently advises entrepreneurs, startups, and universities, and serves as Vice President of the advisory board for the M.S. in Business Analytics program at Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University. Tim holds an M.S. from Carnegie Mellon University and a B.S. from the University of California, Davis. He has served on the board of directors for Pinecone and Truera and has expertise in product design, mobile, software engineering, and senior software engineering.
