Trey Cranney is a talented mechanical engineer with a passion for hands-on prototyping and a focus on mechatronic system design. He has a proven track record of using his multi-disciplinary skill set to successfully design and fabricate electro-mechanical systems. Trey is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in High Tech Engineering with a focus on Mechatronic Systems at the Technische Universiteit Delft. Currently serving as the Laboratory Lead at the USC Aspen Laboratory, Trey is a founding member of the first student-run laboratory in the nation for the modeling of experimental nuclear thermal rocket design and other advanced propulsion methods. In this role, he supervises a team of 20 student lab members, sets laboratory goals, and is responsible for the hands-on design and manufacturing of electro-mechanical systems. Prior to his current role, Trey gained valuable experience as a Fabrication Laboratory Assistant at the University of Southern California, where he assisted students in the fabrication and design of their projects and was responsible for the maintenance of 3D printers and power tools. He also served as a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Rigetti Computing, where he assisted in the development of the mechanical backbone that allows for the creation of the world's most powerful hybrid quantum computers. Trey's technical skills include proficiency in various programming languages and software tools, as well as experience in control system design. He is a highly motivated individual with a strong work ethic and a passion for innovation.
