Every vehicle has a maximum authorised mass or permitted weight limit, and exceeding these limits can be dangerous. Overloading a vehicle will effect it’s handling and has a negative impact on the vehicles brakes and stopping ability and puts the driver and other road users at risk. If a vehicle gross or axle weight limits are exceeded, the driver faces potential prosecution and or fines. Remember, it's not just about the weight of the load, it is also important to consider the stability and security of the load as this can create additional hazards for other road users and pedestrians. For example: if a load overhangs the back of a flatbed vehicle or the edge of a trailer without proper visibility markers, it can be difficult to see by other motorists and become an unexpected hazard when they are overtaking etc. In low visibility conditions, such as dark mornings/nights or in foggy conditions the overhanging load could easily be missed by other drivers and result in an accident. If the load is not secure and it falls off the vehicle/trailer, it could cause an accident that could injure other motorists or pedestrians in the area. If you are stopped by the Police or the DVSA and your load is found to be insecure the driver could be prosecuted/fined, and action could be taken against the company. Remember, winter driving conditions already present enough challenges, from icy roads to reduced visibility. Adding the risk of improperly loaded or unsecured vehicles only increases the danger. So, this Christmas and New Year, please take extra care on the roads, make sure your vehicle is within the weight limits, and always ensure your load is properly secured and clearly marked. We’ve secured significant capex funding to enhance our trenchless technologies offering! 🚧 The investment will be used to purchase additional equipment such as UV system, cosmic robotic cutter and tophat system, IMS UHP water cutter, CCTV van, two steam boilers, van mounted wet out systems, VeriCure system, two sluice 300s, 225 kraso drum with sluice adaptor, confined safety sets, two portable CCTV crawlers, six pushrod solo pro cameras of varying capabilities. Mark Kaney, MD of Ipsum’s water and infrastructure division, said: “Trenchless technologies will be a key component in the delivery of AMP8 and the drive to reduce storm overflow pollution. Last weekend’s wild weather courtesy of Storm Darragh caused extensive disruption to overhead lines across the UK. We deployed our emergency response teams to help DNO’s across the nation with the restoration and repair efforts. Our teams are strategically placed across the UK so that we can respond 24/7/365, getting everyone back up and running as soon as possible.
