Tyler Minard is a highly experienced Senior Software Engineer with over 14 years of relevant experience in the technology industry. He is currently working at Sound.xyz as a Staff (Principal) Engineer, providing hands-on technical leadership as the company seeks to scale up and out. Tyler was attracted to Sound.xyz because of its commitment to music, artists, and fans as a matter of first importance, followed by the technology to realize this vision. He is joining an incredibly talented and passionate team to provide hands-on technical leadership as Sound looks to scale the platform. Sound.xyz was founded to solve two major problems with the music industry: the vast majority of songs go entirely unheard, and 90% of streams go to the top 1% of artists, and artists earn a minuscule amount from each stream, resulting in even the most talented artists struggling to make a living wage. Tyler believes that music is more valuable than the current paradigm suggests, and Sound is how music should be, driven by the relationship between listeners and artists. He is working on creating a platform for a more collaborative music movement, built on web3 technology and values. Before joining Sound.xyz, Tyler worked at Venmo as a Sr. Staff Software Engineer, where he was the tech lead for cryptocurrency, leading multiple distributed teams of engineers and other tech leads across backend and mobile. He designed the architecture and led the initial implementation for cryptocurrency price alerts, which went live in release 9.8. Tyler's additional work included decomposition of crypto from the monolith into microservices and architecture for an exciting new large-scale set of features to be announced. Tyler also worked at PayPal as a Technical Lead for an emerging technology platform, where he was responsible for leading multiple global initiatives to build a standard in Braintree’s merchant reporting capabilities. He led the implementation of the RDM and associated Report Builder service from the ground up, provided mentorship to other engineers, and helped shape the engineering culture within the group.
