Ujjawal Soni is a Lead Engineer in Machine Learning, currently working at Advanced Technology Labs (ATL), Samsung R&D Institute in Bengaluru, India. With over five years of experience in the field of computer science, he has established himself as an expert in developing efficient computer vision solutions to solve complex vision problems in real-time and on-device. As a member of the Visual Understanding team at Samsung, Ujjawal has designed, trained, and deployed efficient deep neural network architecture for object detection in images. He has developed a solution that detects more than 500 diverse object categories and runs completely on-device in real-time as part of the AI Gallery photo search engine in the Samsung S21 series. Currently, he is working on challenging video understanding problems for upcoming flagship smartphones. Before joining Samsung, Ujjawal graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras with a Dual Degree (B.Tech and M.Tech) in Computer Science & Engineering.
