UmaKiran Godavarthi is a Hybrid Cloud Security Technical Lead at Cisco with over 16 years of experience as a Systems Platform engineer. She has worked extensively on Networking Control/Data Path Specialist, Network Security, and ASIC(SR-IOV Broadcom/Mellanox/Intel) Networking/Linux Kernel Drivers. At Cisco, UmaKiran is working on Open source DPDK/NFV Architecture for Deep Packet Inspection in Cisco Next Gen Firewalls/IDS/IPS, which detects threats and responds dynamically. UmaKiran has notable achievements in working on Flow, IPSEC, TLS offloads on NVIDIA DPU cards from Cisco ASAv/FTDv bring up. She is a network path specialist for various Public cloud(Google, AWS, Azure, Oracle) and Private cloud(KVM, VMWare) drivers used in form factors Containers/VM's/Bare Metal for Cisco Firewall. UmaKiran has worked extensively in Broadcom Net Extreme Adapter (DPDK) side for getting various functionalities in Oracle Cloud for Cisco Firepower/ASAv. She has also worked in various SR-IOV ASIC's (Broadcom, Mellanox, Intel IXGBe) datapath and fixed a lot of memory leaks in driver code base. UmaKiran has worked extensively in DPDK and Memory allocations/frees (Core Cache Framework), packet buffers sharing between producers, consumers, and improved the performance of SMP systems including the low-level drivers. She has worked on Cloud drivers like NETVSC, AWS ENA, and Docker-based networking in Containers and extended the functionality of Cisco firewall in various clouds. UmaKiran has also worked on Xilinx FPGA for faster Encryption and Decryption of packets in Firewall in AWS F1 VM and driven end-to-end product planning with Demo execution of AWS SPP/Xilinx XDMA/Crypto Drivers in User space and Kernel. Before joining Cisco, UmaKiran worked as a Cloud Network Infrastructure Technical Lead at 8kpc Inc. (startup) and as a Senior Staff Software Engineer at Infinera. At 8kpc Inc., she worked in OpenStack Neutron datapath and also Packet flow for East-West, North-South traffic using overlays and NAT. At Infinera, UmaKiran worked on the development of Data Plane components for all tunneling protocols on BCM Dune family platform (Jericho, 88670) for Infinera Data Center Products.
