Umed Gill is a senior undergraduate majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Industrial Management at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (B.H.U.), Varanasi. With a passion for problem-solving, Umed has gained valuable experience in the field of electric vehicles and charging station location problems. Currently, Umed is working as a Software Engineer Intern at onecard, where he has formulated a mathematical model that handles the problem of charging station location and number of chargers in each charging station with the objective of minimizing the setup and access costs. He has successfully solved the model for a 400sq. km region of Delhi with hypothetical test data for the charging demand. Prior to this, Umed has worked as a Summer Intern at edvizo, where he determined the optimal location of a plant for the manufacturing of electric vehicles in India. He conducted multi-criteria decision analysis, considering various criteria including supply chain infrastructure, access to customer markets, business operating costs, EODB Index, etc., to determine the optimal location for setting up an electric vehicle manufacturing unit in India. Umed has also worked as an Undergraduate Research Fellow at the Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi, where he conducted research on the optimal location of a plant for the manufacturing of electric vehicles in India.
