Umed Zokirov is a versatile technology leader with a passion for learning and design. With almost 20 years of experience in the field, he has worked on a variety of technologies, from desktop applications development on Mac, Windows, and tablets to building highly available services and platforms powering Intuit's ecosystem. As a Principal Software Engineer at Intuit, Umed leads a team of talented engineers in developing Intuit Service Platform, which helps internal and external developers bring world-class solutions to Intuit's consumers. Umed is experienced in working and leading a variety of teams across Intuit to bring solutions to millions of customers. He helps expand the services ecosystem by leveraging API-first and Domain-Driven Design principles. Umed is accelerating cloud-native development of microservices on IKS (Intuit Kubernetes Service) by creating cross-cutting platform capabilities and service starter templates. He also assists Intuit developers in bringing intuitive REST, GraphQL, and gRPC APIs by creating tools and components such as code generators, libraries, and conducting coding camps and tech talks to increase developer productivity. Umed has architected and implemented support for HTTP/2 in API GW (Intuit’s edge API gateway) to accelerate adoption of gRPC and HTTP/2 by native, browser, and back-end services. In his previous roles at Intuit, Umed was an original member of CFP (Consumer Financial Platform), Intuit’s Consumer Group’s initiative to move from monolithic applications to microservices architecture. He led the design of APIs and implemented core tax microservices to be consumed by TTO (TurboTax Online). He also designed and architected Intuit Cache Service to optimize user experience of TTO, MyTT (My TurboTax), and QBO (QuickBooks Online). Umed has a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of California, Irvine. He is experienced in Software Engineering, Microservices, AWS, Kubernetes, Backend, Senior Software Engineering, and UI. Umed is a mentor to engineers and interns on software development methodologies, guides design discussions, and participates in RCA meetings to improve the resiliency of distributed systems across Intuit’s ecosystem.
