Unmesh Jagtap is a seasoned engineering leader with over 12 years of relevant experience in building and scaling high-performing teams, driving product and technology strategy at scale, and enabling change across the organization. He is currently working as a Principal Product Manager at Snowflake, a cloud data platform, where he leverages his business skills and experience in cloud, databases, and distributed systems to build the platform. Unmesh has an MBA from the Wharton School and a Master's in Computer Science from Cornell University. He is an ardent cricket follower and loves to read. Prior to joining Snowflake, Unmesh worked at Twitter as a Director of Engineering and Senior Engineering Manager. At Twitter, he led the technology strategy, vision, and contract negotiations for Twitter's partnership with AWS to serve timelines from the cloud. He also oversaw Twitter's migration to Kafka, which is now one of the largest Kafka installations with upwards of 200 million messages/sec processed across data-centers. Unmesh also conceptualized and directed Twitter's RocksDB adoption as the default storage engine for Manhattan, saving $10M+ in annual CAPEX. Unmesh scaled the team from 35+ engineers with 3 managers to 60+ engineers and 5 managers across SF, Seattle, London, and Boston. He also led the foundation for deprecating Lambda architecture by creating a vision for a managed stream processing platform that works seamlessly across on-prem and cloud environments. Unmesh has a diverse tech stack that includes Snowflake, product management, AWS, Kafka, Senior Software Engineer, Azure, and GCP. He has a strong educational background with a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School, a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) in Computer Engineering from Cornell University, and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the University of Pune.
