Urvesh Devani is a seasoned Head of Data Science at Portcast, with over 10 years of relevant experience. He is proficient in Python, SQL, AWS, and ML. He has been instrumental in building a SaaS product for cargo flows (ETA prediction) and Demand Forecasting (Air and Sea) at Portcast. He started working with the founders from the early stages of the company and helped the company achieve product-market fit, shape product, and grow data science/tech teams. He is hands-on with interpretable machine learning, time series forecasting at scale, supervised and unsupervised learning, cloud services (aws, google cloud), and data pipelines. Urvesh has executed projects, trials, and POCs with some of the leading freight forwarders, manufacturers, cargo carriers, and shipping companies that have contributed to the overall ARR. He has also conducted and assisted in feasibility studies and experiments to translate ever-growing Portcast data into new product features. He has been leading and growing with the remote data science team at the company and has mentored several interns over time. Apart from his work at Portcast, Urvesh is currently a Mentor at Springboard, where he spends a few hours every week mentoring students of Data Science Career Track. He has assisted ten people in achieving their goals in data science learning. He has also worked as a Community Ambassador at City AI, where he wrote code for various modules of Next Generation Firewall, collaborated with network security research teams to identify, implement data science use-cases (Malware classification, Machine learning-based IPS), and prepared internal surveys that help executives make decisions. Urvesh holds a Master of Technology (MTech) in Software Engineering from the University of Mumbai and a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in C.S. from Gujarat Technological University. He is a Data Scientist, Product Manager, Research Scientist, and Integration specialist.
