Usman Nakakana is a Clinical Development Paediatrician and vaccine and public health expert with a focus on vaccines, vaccination policy and programmes as well as vaccination systems. He is currently working as a Project Physician at GSK Vaccines Institute of Global Health where he is involved in developing vaccines for the poor and neglected of the world. Usman has specialist training in vaccinology, paediatric infectious diseases, and has wide-ranging experience in public health interventions, patient care and clinical and epidemiologic research. He is a researcher and has conducted and participated in research in malaria and other vaccine-preventable infectious diseases. His passion lies in research and public health interventions to help save the children in Africa and worldwide. Usman trained as a vaccinologist at the Global programme in Vaccinology at the University of Siena and has a Master's degree in Vaccinology from the same university. He also has a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree in Paediatrics from Ahmadu Bello University. He has completed a Post-graduate programme in Nutrition from Boston University School of Medicine. Usman has worked as a Paediatrician at Uduth Sokoto where he was responsible for specialized patient care under the supervision of a consultant and teaching of medical students and registrars. He was also involved in the design and implementation of epidemiologic and clinical research in areas of interest particularly in infectious diseases. He has also worked as a Member of the European Society for Paediatric Infectious Diseases. Usman's tech stack includes being a Research Scientist. He has 7.19 years of relevant experience in the field of paediatric infectious diseases, vaccinology, and public health interventions.
