Uvindu Wijesinghe is an experienced Embedded Design Engineer currently working at AB Dynamics. With a background in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Uvindu has gained over 4 years of experience in the field. Prior to his current role, Uvindu worked at Jaguar as a Graduate Electronics & Software Engineer in the Power Architecture team. His responsibilities included aiding in the development of the power delivery system to low voltage components for a next-generation electrical architecture. He also conducted investigative simulation work to diagnose the root cause of issues found during testing of power systems. Uvindu was also part of the competition team at the University of Bath, where he worked at Team Bath Racing Electric. He was the Driverless Technical Manager & Electronic Systems Engineer, responsible for designing and building an electric car every year to compete at the Formula Student event. He was the technical manager for the AI team, looking into the development of a driverless Formula Student car. Uvindu worked with leads from different subsystems to ensure that the team was focusing on the correct technological areas to make the project a success. The team won in their category in the 2019 competition. Uvindu also worked on the electronic systems of the normal electric car, building a digital driver dashboard using Qt, C++, and Python for the 2018 car. He iterated this with lessons learned for the 2019 car, optimizing the code for faster and more reliable operation, and completely revamping the design of the interface. He was heavily involved in the design of the low voltage systems for the 2019 car as well. This included the design of the TSAL system that required the use of a completely analog system powered directly by the HV bus to detect the states of the HV and LV bus and illuminate LEDs that correspond to a truth table of possible states. Uvindu was also involved in the design of the Shutdown Circuit which monitors critical components and emergency stop buttons around the car and immediately disconnects the HV battery if any issues are detected. Uvindu's education includes a Master of Engineering (MEng) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Bath, where he graduated in 2019. He also completed his IGCSE & A-Levels at Maru-a-Pula School in 2013. With a strong background in software engineering and testing, Uvindu is a highly skilled engineer with a passion for developing innovative solutions.
