Vahid Tavanashad is a skilled CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) expert with over 6 years of relevant experience. He is currently working as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Florida State University, where he is responsible for developing theoretical and computational fluid-structure interaction methods for high-speed flows. He is also involved in the implementation of structural health monitoring algorithms for high-speed flow applications and the study of fluid-structure interaction in the suspension of deformable particles. Prior to his current role, Vahid worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at Iowa State University, where he developed a Fortran code for fully-resolved direct numerical simulation of buoyant particle-laden flow. He also automated the workflow of simulation and post-processing by programming with shell scripts and developed parallel lattice Boltzmann solvers using MPI, OpenMP, and Hybrid MPI/OpenMP in Fortran. Furthermore, he introduced and implemented a new approach for the calculation of heat transfer coefficient in gas-solid flows. Vahid has also worked as a Mechanical Analysis Engineer at the Center for Membrane Technology at Sharif University of Technology, where he participated in designing moving waterjet systems for paint and coatings removal by mathematical modeling. He also collaborated in designing coating devices for producing medicine patch by simulating the fluid flow in a slot coater operating in its bead mode using ANSYS Fluent. Vahid holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mechanical Engineering from Iowa State University, a Master of Science (MSc) in Fluid and Thermal Science from the University of Tehran, and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tehran. He has also completed several courses and programs, including a Summer Institute in High Performance Computing and Data Science from the University of California, an introductory 2-Day course covering gas-particle and gas-liquid flows from the American Society of Thermal and Fluids Engineers (ASTFE), and The Midwest Big Data Summer School from Iowa State University. Vahid is proficient in Python and has a strong background in research and development.
