Vaibhav Shah is a seasoned technology executive with over 19 years of experience in building and delivering large-scale distributed systems and internet-scale platforms. With expertise in insurtech, fintech, consumer internet, e-commerce, information security, domain name services, and cloud computing, Vaibhav has worked with both budding Indian startups and renowned established organizations. As the VP Engineering - Marketplace Platforms at Credavenue, Vaibhav is responsible for building and mentoring a rock star engineering team and setting up a culture for engineering excellence. Prior to this, Vaibhav served as the SVP - Engineering at Acko, where he scaled up the engineering organization to disrupt the insurance space and support business growth. He also built scalable systems to sell micro-insurances on every digital transaction in travel, loans, electronics, health, and multiple verticals. Additionally, Vaibhav automated internal/external processes using technology systems (rule engines, ML, AI) to simplify insurance and claim experiences, built core platforms and architecture capabilities to launch new age insurance businesses quickly, and enriched data platforms to enable data-driven decision-making capabilities. Before joining Acko, Vaibhav served as the Head of Software Development at Tesco, where he delivered new features, scaled, managed, and re-architected systems for customers to order online groceries across all markets (UK, ROI, Central Europe & Asia Pacific), manage subscription plans (Delivery Saver), and Clubcard Reward system. He also worked with program managers, product owners, and business stakeholders on the vision, planning, budget, delivery, and release roadmaps, and led the team to embrace open-source technologies, agile methodologies, and providing thought leadership on how to replace legacy systems. Vaibhav holds an M.Tech in Communication and Signal Processing and a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. His specialties include diverse experience in working with budding Indian startups and renowned established organizations, hiring/building/mentoring rock star engineering teams, and setting up cultures for engineering excellence.
