Valentin Dragan is an AI enthusiast and master's student in AI with a strong passion for business-oriented applications of Machine Learning and Deep Learning. He brings a unique combination of technical expertise, leadership experience, and a business mindset to the table. Currently, he is working as a Data Scientist Intern at the Financial Conduct Authority. Valentin has a proven leadership track record with success in organizing and fundraising events, managing and motivating team members. He has worked as a Software Engineering Intern at Thought Machine, where he automated the Security Team's process of reporting code vulnerabilities to their Jira workspace by coding and deploying a service in Go using the Jira API. He delivered it as an open-source contribution to Dracon, a security tool built on Kubernetes. He also enhanced the usability of an internal security tool by making improvements to both the front-end (React) and back-end (Go with Kubernetes). He initiated and led a project in collaboration with fellow interns to create a starting guide for future engineering interns. The technologies he used include Go, Python, Kubernetes, Docker, React, Elastic Search, APIs, and Git. Valentin also worked as Head of Finance at Hack the Burgh, where he co-led 20 team members to organize the University's annual hackathon, which was awarded the "Best MLH Hackathon in Europe" in 2020. He generated 20% yearly growth by fundraising over £20,000 in sponsorships from eight multinational companies. He calculated and executed budgets, negotiated with partners, and trained volunteers. Valentin holds a Master's degree in Informatics (major in Artificial Intelligence) from the University of Edinburgh. He has a strong technical background in Data Science, AI, Research Science, Software Engineering, Deep Learning, Kubernetes, ML, Python, Docker, Elastic Search, Search, Frontend, and Backend.
