Vamsi Subhash A. is an experienced Architect at Hotstar with a passion for solving complex problems. With almost a decade of experience in the industry, Vamsi specializes in large-scale distributed systems, high throughput systems, low-latency systems, and the BigData/Hadoop ecosystem. He is also an expert in algorithms and problem-solving, and has a strong background in refactoring to clean-code principles. Currently, Vamsi is working with the Personalization team at Hotstar, where he is responsible for building backend systems that power the Homepage at scale. He is primarily focused on the delivery stack that handles peak views during events like IPL and ICC cricket world cup, and has successfully scaled systems for high throughput at an acceptable latency. Vamsi has also worked on the next-gen server-side delivery of widget data to clients from the backend, supporting faster feature iterations. Prior to his role at Hotstar, Vamsi worked as an SSE at PhonePe, where he was responsible for building a Netty-based high throughput proxy for stream data ingestions, batch/stream/on-demand OLAP platforms, and a highly scalable feed system for Phonepe transactions. He also worked as an SDE-4 at Flipkart, where he built a next-generation messaging broker from scratch that supported almost unlimited bounded partitions and could scale to very high throughput required for Internet scale systems. Vamsi holds a Master of Technology degree in Computer Science from IIIT Bangalore and a Bachelor of Technology degree in Information Technology from Gitam College of Engineering, Andhra University. He is also skilled in Apache Hive, Hadoop, Spark, and microservices.
