Vansh Khanna is an experienced Distributed Systems Engineer with a demonstrated history of designing resilient systems at scale. He is skilled in Java, C++, and Linux with a BS in Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Currently, he is working as a Software Development Engineer II - DynamoDB at Amazon Web Services (AWS). At Amazon, Vansh has been instrumental in creating a strategy for the chief milestone to re-architect product to address long-standing issues with customer data durability. He is leading a team of six, along with a senior engineer, to build a solution, owning project management in the absence of a manager. The end of year launch will 2x customer data durability and availability and reduce operations effort by 50% across the organization. Vansh was recruited to be one of the four initial engineers for an ambitious project to rebuild the core storage of DynamoDB, launched as one of the earliest offerings of AWS in 2012, to match the scale and needs of customers today. He mentored six new engineers, partnered with a manager to define the strategy, and collaborated with senior engineers to lay the groundwork for the project. The project plan was reviewed and approved by C-suite level engineers. He has also led the delivery of core features for a product launch, with limited context as a new team member. He created a plan to narrow the scope and delivered the project by the aggressive deadline. Vansh worked across multiple teams and 30 engineers to prevent regressions in existing systems as well as ensure compatibility with features launching on the same date. Vansh has a proven track record of addressing severe customer data corruption issues affecting feature teams. He coordinated across multiple teams to diagnose issues and implemented preventive tools to detect issues, gaining recognition as one of the thought leaders in the organization for leading mitigation for critical operational events. Prior to his current role, Vansh worked as a Software Development Engineer I at Amazon Web Services (AWS) - DynamoDB and as a Software Development Engineer - Amazon Appstore at Amazon. He has a total of 7.20 years of relevant experience in the field of Software Engineering, AWS, Web, Java, test, Senior Software Engineer, and Integration. Vansh holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He also attended Modern School Barakhamba Road.
