Varghese Roy is a highly skilled software engineer with a passion for big data and integration. Currently working at Dremio as a Software Engineer, Varghese is responsible for integrating Apache Iceberg features into Dremio's query engine. He has enabled iceberg DML features for Dremio like "CTAS", "ALTER TABLE", Partition Evolution, etc. Recently, he has been working on a new command called "COPY INTO", which enables the direct copying of data from CSV and JSON files into an iceberg table. Varghese has also created an automation tool that enables engineers to run basic SQL queries quickly on their code changes before uploading them. Before joining Dremio, Varghese worked at Trell Experiences Pvt. Ltd, Bangalore, where he worked in the Front-end web development team and maintained Trell's database. He also worked at CSIR-CIMFR Dhanbad as a Research Intern, where he worked on the development of an IoT-based prototype of a motor control system to be used in mines. Varghese holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani - Goa Campus. He is highly skilled in software engineering, SQL, web development, big data, research science, integration, Java, frontend, Python, C, Spark, and Javascript. With 1.87 years of relevant experience, Varghese is a highly motivated and skilled professional who is always eager to learn and take on new challenges.
