Varsha Boobna is a Lead Software Engineer at athenahealth with extensive experience working in various data and cloud technologies. Varsha led a crucial project involving shutting down a legacy performance-metric dashboard called Sentinel Metrics Dashboard that incurred a huge tech debt, while successfully moving all clients onto the Data Visualization Platform actively evaluating scaling and performance needs. This project resulted in over 20% CPU savings on Transactional Database, freeing up ~50TB disk space, improving dashboard load time (<5 sec, 95% percentile), and reducing the average query execution time from 30-35s to <1-3s. Varsha also designed and developed a feature "network roll-ups" to allow enterprise healthcare practices to monitor and effectively compare performance value trends across their network and the industry. In her previous roles at athenahealth, Varsha was a Senior Member Of Technical Staff in the Data Reporting Platform team and a Member of Technical Staff in the Data Liquidity - Migrations & Exports and Data Reporting Platform teams. She migrated the PHIMOD report from the transactional DB onto athena’s datalake, setup a working OGG-kafka-s3 pipeline with data enrichment using kafka streams java and kafka connect for PHIMOD streaming POC, developed a distributed export system using worker, RabbitMQ, Oracle, Perl, and built a simple job monitoring dashboard for monitoring the status and deliveries of Data-warehouse Feed. Varsha has experience working in an AGILE environment and leading scrum teams as scrum master and project lead. Her tech stack includes Kafka, AWS, Snowflake, Java, Docker, Javascript, Amazon Athena, Python, RabbitMQ, and ETL. Varsha has 7.86 years of relevant experience in the software engineering field.
